Tampopo

Pretty good, but awfully long-winded episodic film revolving around the eponymous widow who, with the aid of a trucker and a small gang of gastronomic eccentrics, struggles to perfect a bowl of raman and open a noddle shop. Some of Tampopo’s vignettes are funny, others just ramble inexplicably long and have absolutely no bearing on the central story. After a while, I gave up on following Tampopo as a conventional narrative: It’s just a stitched-together quilt of whimsical episodes that makes for a pleasant enough time-passer.
